On Monday, April 18, 2016, at approximately 10:40 a.m., Maple Heights Police responded to a report of shots fired and a victim lying down on the ground at the Sunnyslope Apartments. Upon arrival, officers found one male victim with gunshot wounds. Witnesses stated the suspect left the area in a maroon GMC Jimmy vehicle.
The victim was identified as Ernest Swift, a 22 year old male. Mr. Swift was taken to UH Bedford Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. The vehicle that left the scene was identified by witnesses and bears Ohio license plate #GKU6856- a 2000 GMC Jimmy, maroon over silver in color. This vehicle and the driver are wanted by MHPD for involvement in the murder. The driver is a black male who was described as being a young adult with blue jeans, blue and gray jacket/hoodie.
