Forman Mills store will both offer designer fashions and homegoods
sold at significant discounts of nearly 80 percent on high-profile
brand name merchandise, brand names so big they can not be

The discounter will be one of the area’s leading sources of
authorized apparel from major league and collegiate sports teams,
including the Browns, Cavaliers and Indians. Forman Mills also offers
a wide assortment of men’s, women’s and children’s everyday and
special occasion apparel, as well as school uniforms, shoes and home

“Our buyers negotiate with our vendors harder than any other company
I know. Hard working families deserve quality, fashionable apparel and
homegoods at affordable prices. Our prices are ridiculously low to
help consumers stretch their hard-earned dollars that much further,”
said Richard Forman, the company’s founder and CEO. “Maple Heights
and Ohio residents shouldn’t have to break the bank to provide for
their families.”

More than 200 new jobs are being created as a result of the store
openings and an estimated $2 million total expected to be invested
annually in the Cleveland region employee payrolls.

“We’re proud to build stores in communities where people actually
live and work and that other retailers seem to have almost all but
forgotten. The Maple Heights area has been particularly hard hit in
the last few months-with two national retailers leaving. We want to
help create jobs and revitalize communities. We think people should be
able to shop right in their own neighborhoods and not have to catch
two or three buses to provide for their families. That’s why we’re
here,” added Forman.

In 1977 at the young age of 17, Forman launched his retail career,
funded by an $80 loan from his father. He aggressively grew the
business, personally overseeing and participating in every aspect. He
began to specialize, selling printed T-shirts three for $5, a
promotion for which Forman Mills would become renowned.

In October 1981, at 21 years of age, Forman opened the first Forman
Mills clothing store, then known as Forman Knitting Mills, in an
alleyway on Frankford Avenue in Philadelphia. The store combined an
outdoor flea market with an indoor showroom. With hard work, fair
prices and quality merchandise, the first Forman Mills quickly became
a major success.

In 1985, the first Forman Mills Factory Clothing Warehouse superstore
opened in an old warehouse in South Philadelphia. What began as
Richard Forman’s simple flea market venture has grown into a
nationally- respected brand. Today, Forman Mills thrives in areas that
other retailers have often failed to explore. The company continues to
be successful, delivering affordable, quality merchandise to eager
consumers in underserved areas through its unique and enthusiastic
marketing tactics. The Forman Mills “shout,” heard on television
and in radio spots around the country, has become the battle cry of
the exceptional-value category shopper. Catchy slogans that challenge
shoppers to “Stretch Those Bills” and bright yellow facades help
make Forman Mills a powerful and recognizable force on the retail

With the opening of the new Maple Heights store, the company will have
36 store locations, with more in the planning stages as the company
continues its aggressive expansion across the United States.

Renowned for low prices, bright-yellow facades and catchy slogans,
Forman Mills Clothing Factory Warehouse (Forman Mills) is
headquartered in Pennsauken, N.J. and has 36 stores. The company is
committed to bringing top quality goods at rock-bottom prices to
families in communities often underserved by retailers.
