PRESS RELEASE: Lockdown at Milkovich Middle School

PRESS RELEASE FROM MHPD:

On Thursday, October 29, 2015, at approximately 7:06 a.m., Maple Heights Police received a call from Maple Heights School Security Officers reporting there was a male with a gun on the property of Milkovich Middle School. MHPD Officers responded and made contact with the original witness while checking the area. The witness stated an adult black male was walking on the property carrying what the witness described as a shotgun. The male with the gun made a comments stating bad things were going to happen and continued walking toward the rear of the school.

Officers immediately searched the entire area. Officers from Bedford, Bedford Heights, and Walton Hills responded for mutual aid. Working with Maple Heights School Officials and Security Staff the school was cleared and was placed in lockdown while the search was conducted. An exhaustive search was conducted of the school grounds, surrounding woods, Stafford Park, and area businesses. No gunman was located. All area businesses were notified of the incident and results.
