12:17 AM Officer in pursuit of stolen vehicle (Purple, 1999 Chrysler Cirrus reported stolen 30 minutes prior from South Blvd)  into Valley View where pursuit was called off. Stolen property from the Cirus vehicle was located at Nitra and Camden next to another stolen vehicle later in the morning.

4:54 AM Patrolman located unoccupied Jeep that was stolen out of Garfield Heights. Vehicle had stolen property from another auto theft lying next to it.

3:47 PM Bush on fire on the 21100 block of Southgate Park.

5:15 PM A girls pink and green Kent Girl’s Trouble bicycle was stolen from the side of a garage on the 15400 block of Northwood Avenue.

17:55 PM Neighbor from Greenhurst Drive reported 3 suspicious males in the driveway of a house across the street that do not live there. When confronted by the complainant’s husband the males ran off. Garbage cans were stacked at the rear of the garage that were used to get onto the roof and get into the house through a second story window- which was secure and they were unable to gain entry.

9:03 PM Report of a 12 year old being inappropriately touched by her brother’s friend.

Know who your children’s friends are that are coming to your house and keep an eye on them. Know who is going to be at a house that your child is visiting and teach your child to speak up if they are sexually violated. More often than not the victim knows the person who assaults them, and it doesn’t happen to just girls.

10:00 PM Report of vandalism to a vehicle parked on the 5300 block of Sunnyslope.

7:11 AM, 7:39 AM, 7:49 AM 5100 Block of Philip Street:

  • Three purses were stolen out of a Dodge Truck. Vehicle was broken into last week in Cleveland.
  • A theft of a subwoofer from a 2000 Cadillac Escalade.
  • A 2010 Lexus had its glovebox gone through.

8:56 AM There was an attempted theft of a Jeep on the 19100 block of Raymond. The window was broken, and the ignition was pulled out of the steering column which activated the security system.

1:18 PM Complainant reported that their neighbor was putting up a fence without a building permit. Neighbor discontinue work until they obtain a permit from the building department.

2:05 PM Report of a red mountain bike being stolen from the 15400 block of Edgewood

3:09 PM Home Depot reporting a female stole an 18 volt hammer drill and returned it for store credit.

4:22 PM CheckSmart on Warrensville Center reported a customer trying to cash a fraudulent check.

4:56 PM Officer reporting disabled vehicle at Lee and Broadway with fictitious plates.

6:54 PM Report of a check being stolen from a truck parked in the driveway of a home on the 15400 block of Longvale. Vehicle’s window was rolled down.

2:46 AM Burglary to a home on the 19200 block of Stafford. Burglary was discovered by complainants daughter, who turned over to Bedford police for an outstanding warrant.

10:20 AM Officer reported an unoccupied vehicle with Texas plates parked incorrectly at Benhoff park. The vehicle had keys and an iPad inside with open windows. The driver was located naked in the woods down in the ravine waiting to meet up with someone he had met on a social media app to have sex. The driver was issued a citation for public indecency.

11:42 AM Officer out with abandoned stolen vehicle with no plates and a punched ignition. Vehicle registered to an vacant home in North Olmstead.

5:32 PM A homeowner on the block of 14500 Krems found a duffle bag with a crowbar and a hairnet. B. Tuggard was tapped on the bag.

9:47 PM Theft of a Schwinn Trailway. The bike was stolen from an unlocked garage on the 15300 block of Longvale; On Saturday (August 8th),  a neighbor reported of theft from a vehicle on the 15400 block of Longvale that happened overnight on August 5th-August 6th. A Louis Vuitton Purse, work clipboard and sunglasses were stolen from the unlocked Acura. Complainant was advised to report incidents immediately in the future.

1:13 AM report a vehicle was egged at a property on the 15600 block of Steinway. This is an ongoing problem.

2:00 AM Report of a stolen Dodge from the 15400 block of Maplepark Drive. The vehicle was found by Cleveland Police prior to being reported stolen at 11PM (August 6th) with its column punched.

10:49 AM Service director advising of theft of city property near Raymond and Grant.

5:24 PM Complainant reporting he has not seen his neighbor in a while and the garbage has started to pile up. After police gained entry to the home the neighbor (48 years old) was pronounced dead by paramedics.

2:23 AM,  5:02 AM, 9:31 AM: Theft from a Honda on the 19700 block of Maple Heights Blvd. Owner had taken some things inside and was returning to vehicle, but went to the restroom first; Theft of a wallet from an Audi on the 19600 Raymond. Vehicle was unlocked. A resident of the 19700 block of Raymond reported the theft of a purse from the home. The suspect came in through the dining room window overnight.

3:41 PM  A pair of Adidas flip flops and a headphones were stolen from an unlocked Buick on the 15900 block of Woodbrook overnight.

3:48 PM  Mr. Hero in  Southgate was robbed at gunpoint. Refer to the press release for more details. Anyone with information is advised to contact the Maple Heights Detective Bureau at 216-587-9624.

7:45 PM the police department was advised of a solicitor on the 5100 block of Anthony who did not have a permit. Subject was advised that she needs to obtain a permit (from the police department) before continuing.

8:08 PM Giant Eagle caught three teenagers trying to shoplift 3 carts of food. Mother, who had an outstanding warrant with Linndale, was waiting in parking lot.

7:05 PM The recycling dumpster in the Maple Heights Library parking lot was on fire. Fire was extinguished by the Maple Heights Fire Department.
