New Maple Heights Police Chief Sworn In

Maple Heights has a new police chief. John Popielarczyk was sworn in November 3, 2014 as the new Maple Heights Police Chief. He has been the Acting Chief since May of this year. The ceremony was held at the Maple Heights Senior Center at 3:00pm. It was well attended by members of the Police and Fire Departments and City officials.

Maple Height Police Chief Sworn In November 3, 2014Chief Popielarczyk was congratulated by Former Chief Maracz as he passed the baton. Mayor Lansky conducted the swearing-in. Mrs. Popielarczyk had the privilege of pinning the badge for him. 

There were several donut jokes throughout the ceremony, but the new Police Chief got the last laugh by presenting Mayor Lanksy, the Safety Director, with the biggest donut he could find.

Police Chief Popielarczyk has been with department since 1990. In his almost 25 years with the Maple Heights Police Department he served as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, Detective Lieutenant, Patrol Lieutenant, and Administrative Captain.
