Monday, October 6, 2014

8:00am –  Female caller from Greendale Ave. stated that someone broke into her car that she may have left UNLOCKED, and noticed that $45 and a PS4 headset worth $70 was missing.

8:53pm – Call from Tabor Ave. reporting two bikes stolen from the garage.

9:50pm – Caller from Cato St. reported a domestic fight between a male and a female near Libby and Cato where the male was seen choking the female. The female was then seen running towards Raymond St.   Officers made an arrest and charged the male subject with domesic violence.  The subject also has warrants with the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office and North Olmsted.

2:21am – Patrolman made a traffic stop on Libby Rd./South Blvd. where the driver was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence and improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle.

7:30am – Juvenile jaywalked across Broadway Ave. between Maple Heights Hardware and Food Mart Plus.  At the same time there was a vehicle turning left out of Food Mart Plus where the front of the vehicle made contact with the juvenile. A squad was called as a precaution and later signed off. There were no injuries and no damage. The juvenile was cited to Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court for jaywalking.

Watchful neighbors are a blessing.

10:15am – Caller reported a black male sitting in a red Dodge in front of a residence on Watson Rd. The complainant also stated there was a second black male who was in the vehicle who exited the vehicle and started to walk up to a home.  The subject stopped when he noticed the complainant watching him and then walked off.  The complainant hung up before the officers could get a direction of travel.  Garfield PD K9 unit was called for mutual aid in checking the vehicle for drugs after officers found PCP in one of the vehicles doors. Ohio State Police responded with a Drug Recognition Expert.  The vehicle was towed and the owner was arrested and charged with drug trafficking and driving under the influence of drugs.

9:22pm – An employee of Walgreens on Lee Rd. reported an intoxicated male shoplifter in the store.  The subject was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and shoplifting.   The subject also has a warrant with Bedford for disorderly conduct.

Wednesday, October 8, 2014

3:09am – Two white males and one white female attempted to steal a duffel bag full of merchandise from the Marathon station on Warrensville Ctr. Rd.  Complainant confronted the subjects who emptied the bag and items they had stuffed in their coats and then became disrespectful to the employees and walked out. Subjects then entered a blue Ford Focus and drove off into Warrensville Heights.

3:34pm – Caller from Williams St. reported a 14 yr. old juvenile tearing up the house.  Juvenile was upset because he had an ankle bracelet put on today and was taking his frustration out on the wall.  Complainant wanted the incident documented  for the juveniles follow up appointment in 2 weeks.

4:22pm – Male caller from the apartments on Lee Rd. reported the occupants of a green vehicle parked in the lot are smoking marijuana.  While an officer was speaking to the driver, he detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle.  A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and one small bag of marijuana was located in the back seat. The subject was cited for the marijuana and transported to the BP station at Richmond/Chagrin and turned over to Richmond Hts. PD on his active warrants for possession of marijuana.

Severall calls regarding vandalism due to paintballs;

4:51pm – Caller reported a group of males in a silver Kia were driving in the Maple Hts. Blvd./Beechwood Ave. area shooting people with a paint ball gun. Vehicle last seen going toward the high school.  Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the vehicle or any signs of paintballs being fired.

6:16pm – House on Steinway Blvd. shot with yellow paintball.  No suspects.

6:39pm – Report from Warrensville Ctr. Rd./Mountville Dr. reporting a silver Chevy Malibu just shot some kids with paintballs.  Vehicle stopped at Gardenview/Clampher and 2 adults were arrested and charged with facsimile firearm.  4 paintball guns were found.

5:20pm – Complainant parked his vehicle in the lot at the Maple Hts. Lanes on Libby Rd. at 3:30pm on Monday. The vehicle was NOT LOCKED. He was in the building for approximately ten (10) minutes and later that day he discovered that two (2) pill bottles containing prescribed medication had been stolen from his vehicle. One was a bottle containing approximately 140 Tramadol (50mg) tablets. The second bottle contained approximately 44 Ibuprofen (600mg) tablets.  There are no suspects for the theft at this time.

5:46am – Male caller from Grasmere Ave./Jackson Blvd. area reported a male possibly sleeping at the wheel.  Officers arrested the driver after a semiauto 9mm gun was located in the vehicle.

7:19am – Security Officer Malone at Norfolk Southern on Sterling Ave. reported that he has 2 juveniles (a 14 yr. old and a 16 yr. old) that were trespassing on the trains.  Norfolk Southern Security will be filing charges direct with Juvenile Court.

12:30pm – Loss Prevention officer from Giant Eagle on Warrensville Ctr. Rd. observed  a subject take steaks from the cooler and walk pass the point of sale. As the subject was walking out of the door, officers stopped him and retrieved three Delmonico Steaks valued at $40.70. The subject was issued a citation for theft and advised of trespassing.

4:32pm –  Report of a house fire on Arch St.  Electric fire caused by an overloaded power strip and electric heater.

THIS constitutes police involvement?

9:39pm – Call received from Longview Ave. regarding a disagreement between a grandmother and a  granddaughter. Granddaughter wanted a fan in her room to keep her cool tonight and grandmother said no.  Granddaughter was advised that it is her grandmothers house and she is a juvenile so she will be sleeping without a fan tonight.

10:43pm – Officer stopped a vehicle on Libby Rd./Maple Hts.,Blvd. that was traveling 80mph.  During the inventory of the vehicle prior to towing, a jar containing two baggies of marijuana was located under the driver’s seat. The marijuana weighed 30.8 grams and was taken as evidence.  The driver was issued a summons to Garfield Hts. Municipal Court for possession of marijuana and the rear seat passenger had in his possession an open, 1/2 full bottle of Miller Lite beer and a digital scale with marijuana residue which was found concealed in the seat.  The driver was arrested and has a warrant with North Randall for operating a vehicle under the influence, driving under suspension, failure to comply and possession of marijuana.  The passenger was cited for open container and possession of drug paraphenalia and has a warrant with Warrensville.

Multiple reports of theft from auto on Maplepark Dr.:

* 7:45am – side window of one vehicle broken out with cigarettes and lighter missing and second vehicle missing money.

* 12:09pm – money taken from glovebox.

* 12:42pm – vehicle broken into overnight.

12:22pm – Officer conducted traffic stop on I480/Lee Rd. on a vehicle making a left hand turn through a red light. In plain view, an open container of 24oz “Hold it Down” malt liquor was located in the cup holder. The driver was issued citations for driving under suspension, red light, seat belt and open container.
