The Unsung Pioneers of Rock

Date: Wednesday, July 30, 2014 7:00 PM

This program focuses on early forerunners of the rock & roll movement dating from the 1930’s & 1940’s, which even includes some rockabilly and country performers. Most of us attribute the birth of rock & roll to Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard and many others. But did you know, that almost 20 years before this, many others were starting to explore that boogie-woogie sound of their own. These are the true pioneers of Rock and we’ll explore how this new sound started to flourish. Sponsored by the Friends of the Maple Heights Branch Library and registration is requested.
