March 24, 2014

4:50pm – Report received of a reckless driver heading southbound on Warrensville Ctr. Rd. who then turned into the Marathon station.  A vehicle matching the complainant’s description was located at the intersection of Libby Rd./Warrensville Ctr. Rd.  The driver was arrested for driving without a license and the passenger was transported to Bedford Hts. on a warrant.  During a search of the vehicle, officers found an orange juice bottle containing beer.  The driver admitted the beer was his and he was also cited for  an open container.

7:28pm – Caller from Stafford Ave. reported that a neighbor, who moved in last week, asked the  complainant’s children, who were playing outside, if they had a problem.  The neighbor then let her pit bull out in the yard whereas the children ran back into their house scared.  There was a black pit bull that was loose but contained once officers arrived.  The neighbor was issued a citation for animal at large and a message was left for the animal warden to follow up.  The building department was also contacted to inspect this residence due to the deplorable conditions.

March 25, 2014

1:29am – An officer was conducting a traffic stop on Granger Rd. and discovered the driver was driving under suspension.  During an inventory of the vehicle, the officer also found a burnt marijuana cigarette.  The driver, who also has a warrant with Cleveland Hts., was arrested for driving under suspension and cited for possession of marijuana.

2:26am – Neighbors on Corridon Ave. called complaining of a loud vehicle running in a driveway.  Officers located the vehicle parked in a driveway with the driver passed out.  During an inventory of the vehicle, officers found a marijuana cigarette in the center console and a half full bottle of Tangerauy liquor under the drivers seat.  The driver was arrested for Physical Control and cited for both the marijuana and the liquor.

And now for some good news!

5:13am – An honest citizen from a neighboring community turned in a debit card she found at the 7-Eleven.  The owner was contacted, and the card was placed into evidence as found property.

3:09pm – Complainant on Stockton Ave. reported that his rental property had been burglarized.  A tenant, who has moved out, returned last night (3/24) at 7:45pm to do laundry and the copper piping was intact.  The homeowner went to the home today (3/25) at 2:15pm and discovered that someone broke into the home via a back bedroom window and stole all the copper piping.

4:14pm – Caller from Delray stated that a tall thin white male driver just drove up and down the sidewalk to get around the ICAN school bus which was unloading children and had its “STOP” sign displayed.  The driver almost ran over some of the children and then drove back onto the roadway, stopped his car in front of the bus, and yelled racial remarks at the bus driver and students inside the bus.  Officers located the vehicle parked on Longview and the driver was arrested for disorderly conduct.

9:38pm – Officer stopped a vehicle on Libby Rd. for no front plate.  As the officer approached the car, a strong odor of raw marijuana was evident.  Upon probable cause, a search of the vehicle produced 10.4 grams of raw marijuana concealed in the center console.  The driver was arrested for obstruction of official business and cited for possession of marijuana.  The passenger was also arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.  Vehicle was towed.

March 26, 2014

4:17pm – While the complainant was in his home on Watson Road, a dark skinned black male attempted to break in through a back window and in doing so pushed some items in the way.  He escaped by jumping a fence in the backyard.  The window was open but no entry was made.  No description could be made and there were no footprints found in the area.

March 27, 2014

11:42am – Caller stated he observed 2 black males wearing hoodies walking westbound on Watercrest Ave. trying to find UNLOCKED cars.  The 2 juveniles were arrested for curfew violation (daytime curfew/school in session).

6:22pm – Complainant called regarding a burglary on his Maplepark Dr. apartment.  Sometime between  9:30am and 5:30pm, someone kicked in his front door and took a Playstation 4 unit.  At this time there are no suspects and no witnesses.

March 28, 2014

1:02am –  Officer was in the Check Smart parking lot on Broadway with an occupied vehicle.  The owner of the vehicle was intoxicated, did not have a valid drivers license and did not have proof of insurance.  The driver was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence and the owner/passsenger was transported to the police department to wait for a ride.  The vehicle was towed.

March 29, 2014

11:56am – Complainant from Cleveland was visiting a friend on Clement St. when he was robbed at gunpoint.  The complainant was looking for an item in his car when he was approached by the suspect who asked him for a light.  When the complainant turned around he noticed the suspect had a gun.  The suspect asked for the complainants wallet and then took his car.  The suspect took off towards Catherine St.  The suspect was gone when officers arrived and they were unable to locate him.  This will remain an open investigation.

12:23pm – A vehicle was broken into on Raymond St.  Sometime between 6am and noon an unknown party entered UNLOCKED vehicles.  Nothing of value was taken.

1:33pm –  Officer was called out to Giant Eagle on Warrensville Ctr. Rd. where he arrested a driver for operating a vehicle under the influence.  During an inventory of the vehicle the officer found a full open can of beer.  The driver was arrested and cited and the vehicle towed.

5:39pm – A report was received of a shoplifter who walked out of the Dollar General on Broadway.  The  shoplifter was a black female carrying a black purse which contained items taken from the business.  The suspect was found and arrested for petty theft.

March 30, 2014

3:27pm – Multiple callers reported an accident with injuries where 2 parties were trapped in their vehicles on the corner of Libby Rd. and Broadway.  Garfield Hts. FD, Bedford FD, Valley View FD and Bedford Hts. FD were contacted for mutual aid and responded.  The driver and passenger of vehicle #1 were both transported to Metro and the driver and passenger of vehicle #2 were both transported to Marymount Hospital.  Vehicle #2 was making a left hand turn from Broadway onto Libby when the accident happened and was hit with such force as to render one vehicle airborne.  Both vehicles were towed and the driver of vehicle #2 was cited for failure to yield right of way.

11:35pm – Vehicle was stopped on Warrensville Ctr. Rd. and I40.  When officers approached the car they could smell the odor of marijuana.  When asked about the odor, both the driver and passenger denied any possession.  The officer noticed 2 bullets on the floorboard and at that time both suspects were searched as well as the vehicle.  Officers found a gun in the backseat in a gym bag.  Citation was issued for not wearing seatbelts, possession of marijuana and possession a firearm without a permit.
