Friday, March 14 at 7 p.m. through 6 a.m. Monday, March 17, crews will close all lanes of I-77 north and southbound between I-480 and SR 21 in order to implement the phase one traffic configuration. Motorists will be detoured via SR 176 and I-490. All traffic leaving downtown Cleveland via I-77 southbound will be detoured via I-490 westbound to SR 176 southbound.
Also on Friday at 7 p.m., the I-77 southbound ramp to I-480 westbound and the I-480 eastbound ramp to I-77 northbound will close until early-November 2014. I-77 southbound motorists will be detoured via I-490 westbound to SR 176 southbound to I-480 westbound. I-480 eastbound motorists will be detoured via SR 176 northbound to I-490 eastbound to I-77. You can check out videos on the project’s website that demonstrate the detours for each closure.
The following ramps will be reduced to one lane beginning Monday, March 17 at 6 a.m. to fall 2014:
- · I-480 westbound ramp to I-77 northbound will be reduced to one lane
- · I-77 southbound ramp to I-480 eastbound will also be reduced to one lane
I-480 westbound motorist whose destination is downtown are advised to use SR 176 northbound to I-490 eastbound to I-77 to avoid any congestion caused by this ramp restriction.
During construction three lanes in each direction on I-77 will be maintained on the bridge. This will be done utilizing a “contraflow” traffic pattern. Speeds will be reduced in the work zone to 50 mph and will be strictly enforced.
