September 30, 2013

2:30 PM:  Attempted burglary at a 18500 Block of Libby home. Home had Guardian Security and police were notified by alarm company of motion in the basement. Nothing was stolen.

3:30 PM: Theft of a purse occurred from vehicle parked in the United Methodist Church Parking (18900 Libby) lot, while a mother was picking her child up from daycare .

Overnight or during the day someone broke into a 15200 block Maplepark Drive Apartment building and stole a 74″  TV belonging to new residents who were in the process of moving in.

During the day a Jeep was stolen from a residence on the 5200 block of Cato.

11:20 PM: A man was robbed as he was walking in along Libby (near 21600).

October 1st, 2013

Rash of “Thefts from Auto” Overnight:

  •  Ramage: Vehicles broken into and a flashlight was left behind by the suspect; Vehicle rummaged through and auxiliary cord stolen.
  • Steinway: Vehicle’s door left partially open and contents had been rummaged through;  At 02:13AM, a resident called to report an unlocked vehicle was broken into and interior light was left on.
  • Summit Avenue:  Overnight an unlocked vehicle was rummaged through and a flashlight and iPod were taken.
  • Carol Drive: Overnight before 3 AM. $2 in change was taken from an unlocked vehicle; A GPS, papers and a portable DVD Player were stolen from another vehicle and screwdrivers were left behind.
  •  Lisa Drive: A Best Reward Credit Union check was stolen from an unlocked vehicle.
 A Block watch meeting was held last night (10/10/13) and a Maple Heights Patrolman was present to advise residents on the best way to keep from becoming victims of Theft from an Automobile. He advised locking vehicles, parking them in the garage, locking the garage, and not leaving valuables inside vehicles, especially in plain sight.

11:35 AM: Complainant called to report broken windows on a vacant Dalewood Avenue property and entry can be gained. Property had previously been reported to building department by police on May 3, 2013. Building Department was re-notified.wpid-IMAG0528.jpg

3:50 PM: Women eating a turkey sandwich drove over the curb of Walgreen’s parking lot and through the fence into the yard of an adjacent property.

9:50 PM Circle K at Rockside and Warrensville Center (Bedford) was robbed at gunpoint. At 4:20 AM Bedford Police Department requested mutual aid for foot pursuit of suspect.

10 PM Accident in front of McDonalds. Vehicle flipped over and a suspect ran from vehicle, foot pursuit followed but suspect disappeared. Vehicle owner was transported to Hillcrest.

7 PM A man in a hospital gown was sight at City Hall and on Maple heights Blvd looking for the Mayor.

October 2nd, 2013

2PM Maple Heights Blvd and Vine. A suspect from a September 14. 2013 Shots fired incident was sighted by a Mape Hights Patrolman and was found to be carry a loaded gun. He was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon.

1:20 PM Thomas Street  and Mapleboro. 2 callers reporting large group of students fighting.

2:20 PM Philip and Raymond. Large group gathered to watch a fight between two female students.

5:55PM 16200 Block of Raymond. Complainant called to report 5 female juveniles writing on a new driveway of  vacant property next door. The cement had not yet set, but the officer was unable to smooth the cement. 

October 3rd, 2013

3:05 PM Caller reported drunk driver traveling South on  Dunham towards Rockside. Driver also had an open container in plain view.

3:33 AM 21400 Block of Kenyon. Homeowner reported a burglary occurred while she was asleep. She got up to use the restroom and noticed her TV was missing. The burglar made entry through a back window, and made off with the TV through the side door.

A firearm, that was hidden in the house, was discovered missing from a home on the 19400 block of Longview after the wake of the resident.

10 PM 15300 Maplepark Drive. Resident reported a suspicious vehicle in parking garage.

10:15 PM: Car ran into house and pole and then drove around the corner. Driver had an open bottle of alcohol and drug paraphernalia. Service department was called to board up house.

9:30 PM: Several callers (from Erwin and McCracken) reporting hearing 4-7 gunshots in the area of Joseph and Raymond Streets. Two victims reported a gray car pulled up and started shooting at them. Shell casings were located on the 5100 Block of Joseph. Solon K9 Unit assisted with search, but no firearm(s) was(were) recovered. Investigation is underway to determine if the victims fired back.

10 PM: A burglary of Jewelry and coins was reported on the 21100 block of Raymond Street.

October 4, 2013

Sometime since yesterday a vacant home on Centuryway Road was broken into by “Urban Miners” and the copper pipes and water meter were removed and kitchen faucet damaged.

October 5, 2013

10:40 PM Bedford Get Go Security called to report a disorient elderly male (presumably from Lamplight). Police escorted him back to Lamplight.

10:55 PM Burglary on the 15400 Block of Turney Road. Victim reported an x-box, TV and laptop missing sometime between 5 PM and 9 PM. The property was recovered at a neighbors house. He denied stealing the items, but was charged with receiving stolen property

October 6, 2013

12:10 AM. Two males broke into a 5100 block of Warrensville Center Apartment, assaulted the male resident and kidnapped a 6 year old boy. The child was secured in less than 2 and a half hours when the kidnappers crashed on Broadway near Los Gallos. The child was not harmed. One of the kidnappers was an ex-boyfriend of the mother.  Suspects are in custody and charges have been filed.

2:30 AM: A male was robbed at gunpoint on McCracken near Tartra by a van full of males. His phone and money were stolen.

1:50 PM  An unlocked vehicle was entered on the 5100 block of Thomas, but nothing was taken.

3:40 PM A female reporting she is at a friends apartment, who is receiving hospice care, and he is not answering his door. Fire department “broke in” and found the subject had fallen off his bed.
