Three years ago, Lutheran Church of the Covenant (website) was looking for ways to reach out to the community. They wanted to provide a useful service to the City as well as foster a sense of community among residents. This led them to start their own farmer’s market.
Now you can stop by any Saturday throughout the summer to pick up some fresh produce, grab baked good, or simply chat with your neighbors.
Mary Kay, one of the key organizers of the market, is excited about how they see it blessing those who stop by. “It’s really building a sense of community. You wouldn’t believe it, but just the other week we had some ladies sitting over there swapping recipes and enjoying a hot dog.”
And everyone loves their hotdogs. They are nothing very special – just all-beef hotdogs from Aldi – but some people stop by just for that. In fact, they had a patron place an order for 25 hotdogs to-go last weekend.
Covenant Lutheran Church invites you to stop by every Saturday from 9:30 to 1:30 through September 21st. They will also be sponsoring a “Fall Fest” on October 12th. Be on the lookout for more information.
